Starlink Dish Installation at Biddulph Moor

Just when you think you have seen it all………..

We were called out today to Biddulph Moor to install a Starlink dish as the customer was struggling with his WIFI after having the dish setup in his front garden for the last six months. When we arrived he told us that he had no idea about technology but he had managed to get it working when it first arrived but since then the WIFI in the house was very sketchy.

We had a quick look around and were amazed to find the router sat on a planter, plugged into the dish lead and an outside power point. I asked him why he had set it up this way and he told me that he had no way of getting the dish lead into the house because of the connector size and he didnt want to pass it through an open window for security reasons.

Incredibly the router was still working as it was quite sheltered inn that corner as the bungalow had quite deep eaves protecting it from the rain. We fixed the dish onto a pole mount at the back of the house and fed the cable into the lounge where the router could sit in a fairly central position in the house. The customer was over the moon with instant speeds of over 250 mbps, as was his son who had the best speeds his playstation had ever seen.

On the way down from Biddulph Moor i had to stop at Biddulph Park to take a picture of the beautiful view as it was such a clear day. It was a shame that the Biddulph Park transmitter was in the shot, but that got me thinking about when I first started doing aerials, and I suddenly realised that it was 33 years ago that I first put an aerial up looking at this transmitter!! Where does the time go?

Point to point internet system

point to point internet distribution

Something a little bit different, we teamed up With Ben from The TechDivision on this one last week, sending internet across the peak district through point to point technology. The customer was paying a fortune for about 30 mbps download speeds, when we left he was nearer 150 mbps. If you are an IT company looking for help with installing kit please get in touch.
